What do the surrounding cities have that Ferndale wants?

    • Sarah Fisher Beyond juice.
    • Ferndale Patch I'm jealous of the Pleasant Ridge pool, for sure.

    • Emma Lynn Power that stays ON!

    • Scott Lilley A skate park.

    • Kenneth McNabb a professional sports team.

    • Mark Blackwell How about an ATM Machine! Or maybe two. Have you looked at the new street maps? Look for the little $ showing you where the ATMs are. Guess how many there are.

      Mm-hmm. None.

    • Scottie Stone a good rock venue
    • Ferndale Patch Kenny: We have the Ferndale Golden Eagles Marching Band.

    • Ferndale Patch Mark: I know there is an ATM in front of Huntington Bank? And there is one in Dino's.
about an hour ago · · 1 person
    • Jean Peplinski No ATM's? What about the one at Huntington Bank? Rosie's? Dye? That other bank next to the State Farm office? I think there's one at Dollar Castle too (and if there isn't, I'm sure they'll put one in there soon - that place has everything).

    • Brian Clark Not much.
    • Ferndale Patch Jon: The Woodward median doesn't count?
    • Mark Blackwell Yes. I know of the Huntington one. I stood in front of it for 4 tries Saturday and every time it said "cancelling your transaction...would you like to try again?" I fell for that line 3 times. Anyway, if you ask me, someone shouldn't have to walk more than a block in any direction once they've decided they want to spend money in Ferndale but don't have cash.
    • Jean Peplinski I'm still hoping for a really good art/craft supply store! I hate the epic battles and endless wait times at Joann Fabrics. Utrecht is awesome for art supplies but it would be awesomer if I could walk to it :-)

    • Jon Zemke Not if you want a space to read a book or hold a rally. The median doesn't do much for the city beyond provide a refuge for pedestrians and aesthetics.
    • Jean Peplinski Oh there's an ATM at the WAB too, I have emptied it out many times during the various parking lot fests over there.
    • Ferndale Patch Jon: That was 99 percent a joke.
    • Tina Bommarito Definitely a pool! That's #1. A Greenspace sounds wonderful! Good idea!
    • Jon Zemke Ahhh... I see it now.
    • Mark Blackwell Ok, just to clarify ... I'm talking about street access ATMs. Not privately owned ones that you lose access to as soon as the business closes. Dollar Store has one too. These little dialup style ATMs cost a fortune to use. If the major banks would put their own out there people could withdraw some cash without paying 5 bucks a pop any time of day or night.
    • Ferndale Patch Mark: Yeah... those private one are usually more expensive.
about an hour ago · · 1 person
    • Jenn Bourgeault A "Boutique" hotel or bed and breakfast. Lodging choices locally are sketchy, to say the least.....
about an hour ago · · 1 person
    • Ferndale Patch Jenn: That motel on Eight Mile? I don't know the owners, but it is definitely "interesting" looking.
    • Ferndale Patch Also... during the DDA envisioning exercise, that was one of the big things -- a hotel or B&B of some sort. You're not alone on that one.

    • Chelsey Shaw a salad bar takeout deli with healthy choices

    • Chelsey Shaw and how bout a PARKING STRUCTURE. we can put the pool on the roof!
about an hour ago · · 8 people
    • Tina Bommarito LOL. I would Not suggest Hotel 8 mile. :)
about an hour ago · · 1 person
    • Mark Blackwell I take the bus past that hotel on 8 mile every day and I'm pretty over having to see that guy in the wide open door in his underwear.
about an hour ago · · 1 person
    • Ferndale Patch Gotta love the morning milieu.
    • Andrea Trendler A decent grocery store! I love Western Market, but for non-specialty items there is not a good option in Ferndale. Sav-a-lot is gross and Ferndale Foods is very overpriced and I often see food that should be refrigerated sitting out in the middle of the aisle.
about an hour ago · · 3 people
    • Adam Cooley Fenced dog park... for as many dogs in the city and walking around I'm surprised there isn't one.
about an hour ago · · 4 people
    • Lisa Wright Schools.
    • Ferndale Patch Lisa: What do you mean?

I disagree that Ferndale Foods is "overpriced." Those folks have done a great job with a place that had gone to hell in a handbasket. I'm all for more and better. And this town could definately do with another grocery, especially if it w...See More

    • Joshua Gartner A decent Mexican restaurant. You know, one that doesn't put nacho cheese on a burritos and charge 12 bucks for it.

    • Emily Murray pool.
    • Lisa Wright message me and I will go into detail, I don't think my opinion is a popular one and I hate debates on FB.

    • Ferndale Patch So, we do have schools, you're just not a fan of them? Send me an email and let me know your issues: Terry.Parris@patch.com.
    • Erika Cole Pratt I have this great idea to open a trendy hostel! Cause that is definitely what Ferndale needs! I have it all planned out in my head...just need a wealthy business partner ... anyone out there?! :)
    • Ferndale Patch Define "wealthy"? I have a jar of small change I could contribute.
      29 minutes ago · · 1 person
    • Jay Dub A dog park for sure!!! Most of our dogs all know each other anyways with as much as we are all faithful dog lover/walkers.
